How to Switch EPF Conventional to Shariah Online

Loading...

EPF has announced the 2019 Dividend at 5.45% for Conventional and 5.00% for Shariah.
Each member can choose whether to keep their account under Conventional Savings or switch to Shariah Savings.
The difference is that Conventional Savings accounts are managed conventionally, meaning the sources of profit from investments are mixed.
On the other hand, Shariah Savings guarantees that its profits come from Halal sources as it is managed and invested according to Shariah principles.
As a Muslim, you must know that conventional income needs to be purified by 71% based on official information from EPF.
From this 71%, the actual remaining dividend amount is only 1.59%, which is far lower than the 5.00% Shariah Savings dividend.
So it is much more worthwhile to switch directly to Shariah Savings!
It is easy. In this day and age, everything can be done online without any hassle. If you can do it online, why bother going to the counter?
This guide is for those who are still using Conventional Savings. Follow these steps:
Log in to your EPF account.

Click ''REGISTER'' to sign up and switch to Shariah Savings.

Next, click ''REGISTER'' again.

Make sure all your personal information is correct for member verification. Then click ''NEXT''.

Read and understand the aqad (contract) as stated. Then click ''AGREE'' to confirm your consent.

You have successfully switched to Shariah!
Once you agree to switch from Conventional to Shariah and it takes effect, you cannot switch back to Conventional Savings at all.
The Shariah Savings dividend is also based on the actual performance of Shariah-compliant investments.
There is no longer a guaranteed minimum dividend of 2.5% like in Conventional Savings.
For Muslims, switch to Shariah Savings immediately because Shariah investment helps us avoid any sector that produces or promotes alcohol, gambling, and other forbidden activities.
Shariah Savings includes screening that eliminates non-Shariah-compliant elements such as riba (interest), gharar (uncertainty), maysir (gambling), and other prohibited items such as non-Shariah-compliant goods or services.

The switch is processed online and typically takes effect within a few working days after you complete the registration.
Because conventional income needs to be purified by 71% according to EPF, which reduces the effective dividend to only about 1.59%. Shariah Savings at 5.00% is significantly higher after purification.
