How to Change Your Remisier at Malacca Securities (M+): Steps & Email Template

This is one of the most common questions we receive at Mahersaham: "I already have a CDS account, but it's not under Tuan Maher. Can I switch?" Some ask it more specifically: "If I opened my CDS account without going through Mahersaham, can I still transfer to Maher Alias?"
The answer: yes, you can. Changing your remisier is your right as an investor, and the process is simpler than most people think. In this article we walk you through how to change your remisier at Malacca Securities (M+) step by step, complete with an email template you can copy directly.
Quick Answer
To change your remisier at M+ (Malacca Securities), first check who your current remisier is, then send a formal request email to M+ Customer Support at [email protected] stating your full name, IC number, client code, current remisier and the new remisier you want. M+ management will review the request and inform you of the outcome by email. Your shares and portfolio are not affected at any point in the process.
What Is a Remisier and Why Does It Matter?
A remisier is a licensed agent appointed by a stockbroking firm to handle individual investors' accounts. Every trading account in Malaysia sits under either a remisier or a dealer's representative. If you are not sure of the difference, read our article on remisier vs dealer.
Why does your choice of remisier matter? Because the right remisier is not just a middleman who keys in orders. An active remisier will:
- Help you understand the platform and processes (deposits, withdrawals, IPOs, financing)
- Be your point of contact whenever there is a technical issue with your account
- Share market knowledge and guidance on an ongoing basis
You can read more about the duties and responsibilities of a remisier to understand what you should expect from yours.
In Malaysia, all remisiers must be licensed by the Securities Commission (SC). Maher Alias is a licensed remisier at Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd with Dealer Code R387. You can verify any remisier's licence through the Public Register on the official Securities Commission Malaysia website.
Why Do So Many Investors Request a Change of Remisier?
Based on our experience handling client questions every day, these are the most common reasons investors apply to switch:
- The current remisier is inactive - hard to reach, no updates, no support when account issues arise
- They want learning support - not just order execution, but guidance on analysis and making their own decisions
- The account was opened without a specific remisier - the investor registered online and was assigned to a dealer at random
- They were reassigned to another remisier without realising it - this can happen after internal restructuring at the broker
Whatever your reason, the process is the same. What matters is that the request comes from you, voluntarily.
Scenario 1: Your Account Is Already With M+ but Under Another Remisier or Dealer
This is the most common scenario. You already have a CDS and trading account with Malacca Securities, but it is registered under another remisier, or under a dealer's representative. In this case, you do not need to open a new account. You only need to apply for a change of remisier. Follow the 3 steps below.

Step 1: Check Who Your Current Remisier Is
Before sending any request, confirm who your existing remisier is. Many investors are not sure whose care their account is under, especially if the account was opened years ago or registered directly without going through any remisier.
We have a full guide for this: how to check who my remisier is.
The fastest way: open the M+ Global app, tap ME at the bottom, select Customer Service, then Live Chat, and simply ask who your remisier is. M+ will give you the remisier's name and contact details.
Step 2: Send a Formal Request Email to M+
A change of remisier is done through a formal request to Malacca Securities Customer Support. Email [email protected] (full contact details on the M+ Contact Us page, or call 1300 22 1233).
Use this template:
I, (full name as per IC), IC number (your IC number), am an MPLUS client under remisier (name of current remisier). I would like to change my remisier to Maher Alias, Dealer Code R387. This change is made of my own free will. Reason for the change: (state your reason).
Make sure you include:
- Full name as per your IC
- IC number
- Client code (format: 6 digits + 1 letter, e.g. 123456A)
- Current remisier's name (from Step 1)
- Reason for the change - state it honestly, for example wanting a remisier who provides more active support and education
The reason does not need to be long. What matters is that the request clearly comes from you and is made voluntarily, because M+ must ensure there is no coercion involved in account transfers.
Step 3: Wait for the Outcome and Check the Status
Once your email is sent, M+ management will review the request and inform you of the decision by email. During this period:
- Your shares remain safe. A change of remisier involves no movement of shares. Your portfolio, cash balance and CDS account stay exactly the same.
- You can keep trading as usual. Your account is not frozen while the request is processed.
- Your client code usually stays the same. The only thing that changes is the remisier overseeing your account.
What Happens After Your Request Is Approved?
Once M+ confirms the approval by email, you are officially a client under Maher Alias (R387). Next steps:
- Contact the Mahersaham team via WhatsApp or live chat at mahersaham.com and let us know you have just transferred - the team will verify your client code in the system
- You will be invited into the Client Support Group and given access to all client facilities
- Start joining the daily live sessions and follow the learning flow that matches your level
Scenario 2: Your CDS Account Is With Another Broker (Not M+)
What if your account is with another broker, such as Maybank Investment Bank, Kenanga, Rakuten Trade or CGS? In that case, the concept of "changing remisier" does not apply, because remisiers are tied to their own broking firms. Malacca Securities and the other brokers are separate Participating Organisations on Bursa Malaysia.
The solution is simple: open a new CDS account with M+ under Maher Alias. An investor is allowed to hold multiple CDS accounts, one per broker. Registration is fully online through the Mahersaham CDS account registration page and is usually completed within a few working days.
Once your M+ account is active, you have two options:
- Keep your shares at the old broker and use the M+ account for new purchases
- Transfer your shares from the old CDS account to your M+ CDS account through a share transfer request (this can be submitted via the Bursa Anywhere app)
Scenario 3: You Were Moved to Another Remisier Without Realising It
We have also seen real cases like this: a client who used to be under Tuan Maher suddenly discovers their account has been reassigned to another remisier. This can happen, for example, through internal portfolio restructuring at the broker.
If this happens to you:
- Check with M+ via Live Chat in the M+ Global app (ME > Customer Service > Live Chat) to confirm who your current remisier is
- If you want to return to Maher Alias, send the request email exactly as described in Step 2 above
- Mention in the email that you were previously a client under Maher Alias (R387) and wish to return to your original remisier

FAQ About Changing Your Remisier
Will my shares be affected when I change remisier?
No. A change of remisier only changes the individual overseeing your account on the broker's side. The shares in your CDS account, your cash balance and your transaction history remain fully intact.
How long does the process take at M+?
It depends on the review by M+ management. The outcome is usually communicated by email within a few working days. If you hear nothing after a week, follow up via M+ Live Chat or call 1300 22 1233.
Is there a fee for changing remisier?
A remisier change request is an administrative process on the broker's side. Any charges (if applicable) are subject to M+ policy; in our experience, clients have not been charged for this change. This is different from transferring shares between brokers (share transfer), which carries its own fees.
Do I need to inform my old remisier?
Not required. The request goes directly to M+ Customer Support, and M+ handles the internal notifications. That said, informing them as a courtesy does no harm.
Can I change the remisier for a family member's account?
The request must be made by the account holder themselves, because the change must be voluntary and initiated by the owner. If your child or spouse wants to switch, they need to send the request email using their own name and details.
How do I know my request has been approved?
M+ will inform you of the outcome via the email registered to your account. After that, you can confirm by asking again through M+ Live Chat or by contacting the Mahersaham team for verification.
I don't have a CDS account at all. How do I start directly under Maher Alias?
Even easier. Register directly through the Mahersaham CDS account page and your account will be placed under Maher Alias (R387) from day one. No transfer process needed.
Does the remisier get access to my money once I'm under them?
No. Your money and shares always sit in your CDS account and trust account with the licensed broker (Malacca Securities), never with the remisier. A remisier cannot withdraw your money or sell your shares without your instruction.
Conclusion
Changing your remisier at M+ is not complicated: check who your current remisier is, send a formal request email to [email protected] using the template above, and wait for M+ to confirm. Your shares and account remain safe throughout the process. If your account is with another broker, simply open a new CDS account with M+ under Maher Alias.
