How to Check RON95 Petrol Subsidy Eligibility (BUDI95) & Your Monthly Quota

Loading...

BUDI95 (Budi Madani RON95) is a targeted petrol subsidy programme that replaces the blanket RON95 subsidy. Under this programme, eligible Malaysian citizens can purchase RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre up to a maximum of 300 litres per month. Purchases exceeding the quota are charged at the market price of RM2.60 per litre.
This means savings of up to RM183 per month (RM0.61 x 300 litres) for those who use their full quota.
BUDI95 eligibility is broader than other targeted subsidy programmes. You are eligible if you meet the following criteria:
Interestingly, BUDI95 does not impose an income threshold - meaning the majority of Malaysians are automatically eligible. According to the Ministry of Finance, 16.55 million Malaysians are eligible for this subsidy, and over 13 million people used it in the first month.
You can check your eligibility in just a few minutes through the official portal:
Open your web browser and go to www.budi95.gov.my or www.budimadani.gov.my.
Click the "Eligibility Check" or "Semakan Kelayakan" button on the homepage.
Type in your MyKad number (12 digits, without dashes). Example: 880101145678
The system will display whether you are eligible or not eligible for BUDI95 benefits.
No registration is required - simply enter your IC number and you will receive an instant result.
After you start using BUDI95, you need to monitor your 300-litre quota balance. Here is how to check it:

Several apps support BUDI95 balance checking:
Every time you refuel, the receipt will show the remaining subsidised quota balance for that month. A new quota is automatically reset at the beginning of each month.
The subsidised refuelling process is slightly different from before:
After completing the initial e-KYC verification, you can refuel without carrying your physical MyKad:
If the check shows you are not eligible, do not panic. Here are common reasons and how to resolve them:
| Reason | Solution |
|---|---|
| Driving licence has expired | Renew your licence at JPJ |
| JPJ records not updated | Visit the JPJ office to update records |
| Outstanding traffic summons | Settle the summons first |
| MyKad not found in the system | Verify your details at JPN |
| No active car/motorcycle licence | Ensure an active licence is registered |
Contact the call centre at 1300-88-9595 to file an appeal. You can also visit the JPJ office to update your driving licence records.
A MyKad with a damaged chip cannot be used for BUDI95 verification. If your chip is faulty:
Make sure your MyKad chip is functioning properly before heading to the petrol station to avoid any issues during refuelling.
