Malaysia Diesel Subsidy: How to Apply for BUDI Individu & Get RM200 Monthly

Loading...

Since 10 June 2024, diesel prices in Peninsular Malaysia surged 56% from RM2.15 to RM3.35 per litre. This increase is part of the government's diesel subsidy rationalization policy aimed at saving approximately RM5 billion per year. However, the government did not leave citizens without support - the BUDI Individu program was introduced to help eligible diesel vehicle owners with RM200 monthly cash assistance.
This article explains in detail what BUDI Individu is, who is eligible, how to apply, and how to check your application status.
BUDI Individu is one of the categories under the BUDI MADANI (Bantuan Subsidi MADANI) program. It is a monthly cash assistance of RM200 disbursed to private diesel vehicle owners from non-T20 households in Peninsular Malaysia.
The program was introduced simultaneously with the diesel subsidy rationalization on 10 June 2024 as a measure to offset the increase in daily transportation costs.
The BUDI MADANI program actually covers three main categories:
| Category | Target Group | Mechanism |
|---|---|---|
| BUDI Individu | Private diesel vehicle owners | Cash aid RM200/month |
| BUDI Agri-Komoditi | Farmers and smallholders | Cash aid RM200/month |
| BUDI MySubsidi Diesel (SKDS 2.0) | Logistics and land transport companies | Fleet card - diesel remains RM2.15/litre |
Each category has different eligibility requirements, and this article focuses specifically on BUDI Individu.
Unlike BUDI95 which is open to almost all citizens, BUDI Individu has stricter eligibility requirements:
Several categories are excluded from BUDI Individu:
However, luxury vehicles older than 10 years are still eligible for consideration. The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that aged or older luxury vehicles will be considered for eligibility.
Each approved recipient will receive a fixed RM200 per month. Here is some context on why this amount matters:
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Diesel price before rationalization | RM2.15/litre |
| Diesel price after 10 June 2024 | RM3.35/litre |
| Price increase | RM1.20/litre (56%) |
| BUDI Individu aid | RM200/month |
| Equivalent litres of diesel (at RM1.20 rate) | ~167 litres/month |
| Latest diesel price (March 2026) | RM3.04/litre |
The RM200 monthly aid is equivalent to approximately 167 litres of diesel at the original price difference rate. While it does not fully cover the increased cost, it eases the financial burden for diesel vehicle owners especially from the B40 and M40 income groups.
